Young people, like myself, are deeply alarmed over their future where devastating consequences like wildfires are becoming more common. We want to take an active role in finding solutions. Supporting our education on climate change will give us an opportunity to do so. However, many schools in the U.S. have fallen short on climate change education due to lack of resources and educator training.
In reference to the existing sorry state of affairs in climate change education, I used gnarled pencils and pencil shavings to symbolize education and to represent the charred remnants of a forest after a fire while capturing an eerie feeling. The hand is rendered in a way to show panic and alarm.
