Covid-19 has unleashed a tsunami of racism and xenophobic violence and discrimination against the Chinese and people of Asian descent. I am one of those many victims. While I was born and raised in America, I did spend several years in China as an expatriate. It was a transformative experience, learning and experiencing a culture different from your own may cultivate empathy and care towards others. I wanted to reciprocate the gift that Chinese culture has given to me by carving a beautiful map of Chinese background through a block print depicting celebratory images that conjure happy memories of my time in China.
